How to Set Up ADnull DNS Using a DNS Profile on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Last updated on Mar 16, 2026

What is a DNS profile?

A DNS profile is Apple's official mechanism for configuring DNS at the system level. Once installed, it automatically protects all apps on the device: Safari, Chrome, Mail, TikTok, and any other app — no additional configuration needed.

The profile uses DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) — your DNS requests are encrypted and transmitted over the secure HTTPS protocol. Your internet provider cannot see which sites you visit, and ads and trackers are blocked before the page even loads.

The profile is active on all networks: Wi-Fi, mobile data, and others.

Step 1. Download the profile

Log in to your ADnull dashboard → Settings → click "DNS Profile for Apple".

The file adnull-apple-XXXXX.mobileconfig will be saved to your device.

Installing on iPhone and iPad

Step 2. Allow the profile download

After tapping the button, your browser will ask permission to download a configuration profile. Tap "Allow".

Step 3. Open Settings

Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad. A banner "Profile Downloaded" will appear at the top — tap it.

If the banner does not appear, go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and find the ADnull profile in the list.

Step 4. Install the profile

Tap "Install" in the top right corner. Enter your passcode or use Face ID / Touch ID. Tap "Install" again to confirm.

Step 5. Done!

Tap "Done". ADnull DNS is now active on your iPhone or iPad.

Installing on Mac

Step 2. Open the downloaded file

Double-click the downloaded file adnull-apple-XXXXX.mobileconfig in your Downloads folder.

Step 3. Open System Settings

Go to System Settings → General → Device Management.

Step 4. Install the profile

Find the ADnull profile in the list and click "Install". Enter your administrator password and confirm the installation.

Step 5. Done!

ADnull DNS is now active on your Mac.

How to remove the profile

iPhone / iPad: Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → ADnull → Remove Profile.

Mac: System Settings → General → Device Management → ADnull → Remove Profile.

FAQ

Does the profile work on mobile data?

Yes. The profile is active on all networks — Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, and others.

Does the profile affect internet speed?

No. DNS requests take milliseconds and have no impact on connection speed.

Is the profile safe?

Yes. The profile is generated individually for your account and only configures DNS. It does not collect data, intercept traffic, or change any other device settings.

Do not share the profile with anyone — it is tied to your personal DNS domain.

What if the profile won't install?

Make sure you are downloading the profile using Safari — on iOS, other browsers may not support installing configuration profiles.
